How we influence

Shaping change - creating a better future

Investment in affordable housing forms a major plank of the country’s social policy and CIH believes it is as important to the nation’s future as education and health.

Housing policy is devolved in the UK. In England we advise and challenge the work of ministers and officials based at Westminster. In Northern Ireland we work with the Assembly, the Scottish Government in Edinburgh and the Welsh Assembly Government in Cardiff.  In each of our teams we work to shape policy.

CIH campaigns for a fairer housing system and, as the professional body for the housing sector, we are often asked to comment, advise and give evidence to help shape new legislation and policies. Our analysis and the views and experience of our members feature in parliamentary debates and have brought about important changes.
